The Salvation Army and Operation Sack Lunch
When residents come into the SODO Shelter, they are happy to have a space of their own where they can leave their belongings and begin to rebuild their lives. Another vital aspect of staying in SODO is that all residents can expect three meals a day.
The Salvation Army is lucky to partner with Operation Sack Lunch (OSL), a nonprofit that serves nutritious and delicious meals to communities struggling with hunger and food insecurity. Currently, across Seattle, they serve 6,800 meals a day to people in need. OSL partnered with The Salvation Army when the kitchen at the William Booth Center closed. They deliver many meals to the SODO Shelter and William Booth Center daily, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner ensuring that residents are fed nutritious meals.
OSL has also been crucial in ensuring that those experiencing homelessness are fed when severe weather shelters are needed. The Salvation Army is grateful for this partnership and appreciates the effort and care they put into every meal they make.
